Can retrieve CD2 web_logs data which is older than 30 days?

Hi all,

My institution starts to use Canvas since 2014, and now we focus on CD2 web_logs. As I know that the DAP API can only retrieve the latest 30 days data. May I ask is it possible way to get back the web_logs data from 2014? If no, is there any charged service can do that?

My understanding is that any canvas_logs.web_logs data would have started accruing in that data lake at the time your CD2 service was enabled. So any data prior to that date would not exist in CD2 (for the web_logs table exclusively). If CD1 was enabled back in 2014, then I think that would exist in the CD1 exports if that is still enabled for you.

@ctcck For data from 2014 to present, you may consider keeping the requests files from CD1. Choose a cutover date within the past 30 days, and switch to web_logs going forward.

Thank you for the question. At this time Canvas Data 1 has been deprecated and disabled. Users will need to use Canvas Data 2 to continue to access and download data tables. If you have concerns about this being deprecated I would recommend reaching out to your Customer Success Manager as they would be able to talk to you about this further. I just doubt that is it possible to get back the requests data from CD1 now if it is deprecated. Also, I try to retrieve the web_logs file, but the earliest date to data retrieval is only 199 days before when I use the API .
