I assign a specific number of points to my assignments, yet the Gradebook does not show the points.

As your post is brief, this is a shot in the dark. Perhaps you want the total column to show points rather than a percentage (calculated by dividing points earned by points possible for graded assignments). See this subsection of the Total column guide for step to change that display.
