We are a non institution edtech company that does not have institution credentials to generate API dev keys. How do we activate a testbed to implement the LMS APIs?
Hi @sagaxai,
You'll likely want to look into becoming an Instructure Partner. Depending on the partner level you select, you can get access to a Canvas sandbox instance to do all of your app testing. Please note that this is not a free program, so you'll have to decide if it's worth it to you to invest in.
The only other option at his point would be to try to find a school that would partner with you and give you some access to their Canvas instance, but I think you may have a very tough time doing that because of the level of access you'd need and the data that would be exposed to you by granting that access. Speaking as an institution Canvas Admin myself, I can tell you that my institution does not allow this kind of access to any external partners, as it's just too risky.
Hopefully this info helps!

Canvas is open source so you might be able to install your own instance of Canvas and use it as a testbed. Instructure has a page on installing Canvas or you can find other resources on the internet.
Yesterday, after much trial and error…I concluded the new quizzes matching choice options do not work as I expected, and have used with other LMS. I have seen documentation that says you must recopy your iCal link and resubscribe when you are enrolled in new classes, does this mean my iCal feed link changes each time, or do i just need to re-fetch the .ics file?
We use course pacing to manage due dates, because we run ~20 something courses each quarter and manually setting due dates would be a nightmare. Several courses have two core topics. We want to allow students to choose which of these they will pursue first. Is there any way to configure multiple course paces with different…
Hoping someone can explain for me. We're using pacing to avoid manually dating regular assignments each quarter, but the dates I see are based on when the course was instantiated, while students see dates based on when they were added to the course by [backend software I don't know anything about, presumably]. If I set…
Has anyone else had issues with an influx of duplicate users in Canvas? Ours is currently in the form of an email that already exists, becoming a new user - and not automatically merging with the user ID with the same email that also is linked to our SIS ID correctly as well. For example, user 1 is xyz@gmail.com without a…
