You can update your SIS Data Sync integration credentials from the Settings tab in the SIS Integration page.
Updating your credentials allows you to update the connection settings used to connect Canvas to your Student Information System (SIS).
Notes:
- The Settings tab is available in the SIS Integration admin view.
- Data Sync connections include additional settings for OneRoster Version, Authentication Scheme, API URL, Access Token URL, and Scope.
- You can leave the Client Secret field unchanged if you do not need to update the existing client secret.
Open Account
Click the Admin link [1], then click the name of the account [2].
Open SIS Integration
In Account Navigation, click the SIS Integration link.
Open Settings
In the SIS Integration page, click the Settings tab.
Note: If the Settings tab is not available, contact the Instructure SIS Support Team for assistance.
Review the connection settings
Review the current OneRoster Version [1], Authentication Scheme [2], API URL [3], Access Token URL [4], and Scopesettings [5].
If you need to update the connection settings, enter the new values in the corresponding fields.
Enter new credentials
Enter your new Client ID [1] and Client Secret [2] in the corresponding fields.
To keep the existing client secret unchanged, leave the Client Secret field blank.
Test the connection
Click the Test connection [1] button.
If the connection is successful, a Connection verified[2] message displays.
Note: Testing the connection verifies the connection but does not save your changes. Too many test attempts will force a 30–60 second delay between attempts. This is to prevent getting rate-limited by your SIS vendor.
Save the changes
Click the Save button.
When the credentials are saved successfully, the updated credentials apply to the SIS connection.
