Open the Canvas feature area that displays the media you want to view.
If the media is embedded in Learn or Collab views:
- If the Show Rolling Transcript is enabled, the Transcript tab displays [1]. If the feature is turned off, you can access the Captions tab by clicking the Media Options button [2] and selecting the Expand View link [3].
- If captions are not available, you can also add captions by clicking the Manage captions button [4].
- YouTube or Vimeo videos display a warning message [5]. You can add captions by clicking the Upload or create link [6].
If the media is embedded in Thumbnail View, expand it into an immersive full-screen view by clicking anywhere in the media thumbnail [7].
If the media is embedded in Quiz View, click the Preview Quiz button [8].
Edit Transcript
If the media is embedded in Learn or Collab views, you can edit the transcript by clicking the Options icon [1] and selecting the Edit Transcript link [2].
To find a specific text, use the Search in transcript field [3].
To edit the transcript, click the caption line and start editing the text [4]. To save the changes, press the Enter key.
Note: The Transcript tab displays only if the Show Rolling Transcript is enabled. You can edit this setting in the Media Options tray.
Request Automatic Captioning
Click the Request button.
Note: Auto-generated captions are not available for YouTube or Vimeo media uploads. For these media types, you can upload caption files or create captions manually.
Select Language
To select the language spoken in the file, click the Language drop-down menu [1].
To confirm your request, click the Request button [2].
Edit or Publish Automatic Captions
If auto-publishing for automatic captions is enabled in your personal settings, the caption file is automatically published. Otherwise, you can edit captions in the Studio Caption Editor before publishing. Click the Options icon [1] and click the Review and Publish link [2].
Upload Caption File
To upload a caption file, click the Captions tab [1]. Click the Add New Caption button [2] and select the Upload Captions link [2].
Note: The image in this step shows a full-screen immersive view of media embedded in Collab View. If you embedded your media using a different view, the tabs may appear differently.
Select Language
To select the language spoken in the file, click the Language drop-down menu [1]. Click the Upload button [2].
Select File
Select the file [1] and click the Open button [2].
View Caption File
View the caption file.
Create New Captions
To upload a caption file, click the Captions tab [1]. Click the Add New Caption button [2] and select the Create Captions link [3].
Select Language
To select the language spoken in the file, click the Language drop-down menu [1]. Click the Create button [2].
Add Captions
The Not published status displays [1]. Continue creating the caption in the Studio Caption Editor by clicking the Options icon [2] and selecting the Review and Publish link [3].
View Caption Options
Click the Options icon next to the caption file [1].
To edit the caption, click the Edit link [2] or click the caption file [3].
To download the caption file, click the Download link [4].
To replace the caption file, click the Replace link [5].
To delete the caption file, click the Delete link [6].
Go Back to Course
To return to the Canvas feature area where the media is embedded, click the Go Back to Course button.
