The Canvas Career Course Editor provides a focused, stylized navigation experience designed to prioritize course-specific actions.
View Units
In Global Navigation, click the Units tab [1]. This is the primary area for organizing your instructional content and represents the most integrated, native experience within the navigation layout. As an instructor, you can add units by clicking the Add unit button [2] or hovering between units [3], add items to a unit [4], and manage unit settings [5].
Note: Units is the new designation in the new experience. In the old experience, Units are referred to as Modules.
View Settings
In Global Navigation, click the Settings tab. The first section of Course Details shows you an overview of your course, including the course name [1] and course code [2]. Depending on your institution, you may not be able to change your course name and code.
To change your course time zone, use the Time Zone drop-down menu [3].
If you have permission to publish or unpublish courses, you can manage your course status in the sidebar. To publish or unpublish the course, click the Course Status dropdown menu [1]. To publish the course, click the Publish button [2]. To unpublish your course, click the Unpublish button [3].
View Skills
In Global Navigation, click the Skills tab. This will open into the skills taxonomy where you can manage your Skillspace.
View Overview
In Global Navigation, click the Overview tab. This allows you to edit the course landing page seen by learners.
View Scores
In Global Navigation, click the Scores tab [1]. This opens the Gradebook, which helps instructors easily view and enter grades for students. The Gradebook includes global sorting options and settings you can use to organize your gradebook [2], student data [3], and assignment data [4].
The Gradebook supports keyboard shortcuts. To view the Keyboard Shortcuts menu, click the Keyboard icon [5] or press the Shift+Question Mark keys simultaneously.
View People
In Global Navigation, click the People tab [1]. This shows all the users enrolled in your course, either added by you or your institution via SIS import. The People page displays all information about the users in your course. The page is designed with global settings at the top of the page [2] followed by the generated user data [3].
View Apps
In Global Navigation, click the Apps tab [1]. The App Center shows all apps available in your course. This includes Course Analytics [2], Whiteboard [3], and Item Banks [4].
Switch to Old Experience
Within the editor, you can return to the old interface by clicking the Switch to old experience button. This will allow you to view the course in the typical course viewer.
