The Smart Importer allows admins to upload existing standards alignments into the system using a CSV file, review suggested matches to Academic Benchmark standards, and publish alignments without rebuilding them from scratch.
This article explains how to access the Smart Importer, upload an alignments file, review matches, and complete the import process.
Open Smart Importer
You can open the Smart Importer in two ways.
You can locate the Smart Importer tile on the main page [1] and click the Manage button [2] or the Create New button [3].
Alternatively, you can click the Smart Importer link in Global Navigation [4]. From there, click the Create link [5] or Manage link [6].
The Create and Create New options both open the Smart Importer upload page, where you can upload a CSV file to begin importing alignments. The Manage option displays previously created Smart Importer items.
Review Import Requirements
Before uploading a file, review the Smart Importer requirements.

The Requirements panel confirms that Smart Importer only works with assets that already exist in ABAS [2].
To ensure the file is formatted correctly, review the sample CSV or click Download a template link [3] to download the required CSV format.
The CSV file must include required columns such as Asset, Asset Type, Authority, Subject, Low Grade, High Grade, and Standard [4].
To provide additional classification, include the Alignment Tags column.
Note: The Alignment Tags column is required but may be left blank.

To begin importing alignments, click Create or Create New. This opens the the Smart Importer page.
On the Smart Importer page, drag a CSV file into the upload area [1] or click the Choose a file to upload link [2].

To start reviewing the matches between the imported alignments and the suggested standards, click the Begin Review button [2].
