As of this morning, we are seeing "credentials" repeated 5 times on every course navigation menu. We are seeing this only in our production environment. It does not exist in test or beta. What changed???
I don't see it in my instance.
Did you ask your local Canvas Support if they are aware of it? In my institution a similar thing happened a few months ago (with a different navigation button being duplicated), and it was an internal issue.
Thanks for responding so quickly -- We submitted a ticket and let our representative know. This is the first time we've seen anything like this. Thanks again!
This affected our institution also. I've heard that this is an artifact from a Badges to Credentials migration. I've got a support case on it (12303533) which was rolled into a larger case, telling me that we're not alone in it. If you check your institution apps you'll see a bunch of new externals added called "Badgr at badgr.com: Badgr in Canvas LMS". I'm guessing the Dev Key necessary to power these is inherited. I didn't remove the apps, but I did turn off all of their placements, and am currently awaiting Instructure guidance to complete this...
We're also seeing the same -- each one says Created: May 14, 2025 when I click through, so if you're seeing similar it's probably an error with an automated process?
I found this article in the Credentials product blog:
https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/The-Product-Blog/Updated-Advancing-Canvas-Credentials-The-Path-from-LTI-1-1-to/ba-p/641217
Long story short- updates rolling out on May 12 and expected through May 23. However, since we aren't using this product and had the Badges course nav link hidden, we really need Credentials hidden. (I do realize that instructors can manually make it not visible, but we're going to deal with unhappy users.)
Same here. I've sent a help desk ticket in. I suggest you send one as well so they are made aware of the issue or know to update us on why it is listed multiple times and the value-add of this (???)
Is there a way for the grading rubric to have a default selection set? I have a rubric that checks if a student has mastered a learning objective at the end of the semester (yes or no) and most students are 'yes'. It is tedious to click yes 10 times per student in each class. Can the rubric auto generate a 'yes' and I can…
Hi all, Quick question about the Gradebook color status for a 2-part checkpoint discussion. If a student completes the first due date (initial post) but does not complete the required replies by the second due date, is there any way for Canvas to automatically show a color (e.g., missing/late) instead of staying as…
Canvas Portfolios provide a powerful platform for students to document their learning journey, reflect on their progress, and showcase competencies. However, in programs where multiple educators are involved in assessment—such as team teaching, moderation, or competency-based evaluation—there are important questions about…
In legacy SpeedGrader, the instructors see students' initial post followed by replies. Why is it no longer listed that way in the Modernized SpeedGrader? Grading is made easier if the initial post is first, making it easily identifiable.
Hi There, We are in the process of transitioning to Canvas this year and were wanting to connect with any other MYP schools to see how you setup Assignment and grading under your modules. Or you could guide us to any resources you may have.
