What school should a student put in when responding to an invitation to join my course in the Free Teacher Account? They get the e-mail invitation but have to look up a school. Is it just my name or user name?

The search term your student should search up is called: Free Canvas Accounts
This will provide your student with access to the free canvas accounts login page.

It has been a while since I have created a student user account in Canvas Free for Teachers (FFT) but I think the student might be doing a search for an institution that is using Canvas and not going through an account creation process.
Are you able to share a screenshot? If not, and the student is just joining a sort of "ad-hoc" course, I would just recommend either leaving it blank or just enter something like "John Nielson School".
