I'd like to know if a course built using Canvas LMS can be sold to a student via an ecommerce solution that is not Canvas Catalog?
Canvas does not handle financial transactions, nor does it require payments when creating a user or enrollment. If you are charging for a course, it's entirely up to you how you collect payments.
There is information about integrating Canvas with an SIS system, which includes how to generate users, courses, and enrollments with feed file, at https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Basics-Guide/What-are-SIS-Imports/ta-p/47 . There is information about both import formats and APIs at https://canvas.instructure.com/doc/api/file.sis_csv.html
I presume you using your own instance of Canvas? You will not have access to many of these tools and processes if you do not have administrator access.
Hi @emckay
Is your question about the technical requirements for getting payment and generating accounts and enrollments for courses in Canvas, or about any legal/contractual restrictions that may exist with Instructure?
Hello there, Yunoo is an app that let's you sell courses from canvas through your own whitelabel course store https://www.yunoo.io/fr.Contact us at davidgeismar@yunoo.io for more informations.Regards
There are various "storefront" solutions that allow you to provide a public facing catalog and method of registering, purchasing, and enrolling in Canvas courses. This being a Canvas Catalog discussion board I'm not comfortable naming competitors but they're out there.
Hi @emckay I would recommend replying to this blog post since it seems the survey is no longer active requesting for ecommerce services to be linked with Catalog.
Is there anything in the works for an admin 'master' Calendar to be used inside of Catalog similar to what's used inside of the LMS? Consisting of things such as enrollment count, course dates/times, description, cost, etc.?? In our thinking it would be a tool specifically for admins in catalog.
Currently, the listings filters only allow filtering by Listing Creation Date. Is there a way to filter by course's start or end dates instead? In our case, listings are created at various times, but we track revenue and enrollment by academic term/semester (which, I can specify using date ranges on course dates), not by…
We have had several failed enrolments caused (on most occasions) by system outages. Unfortunately we only find out because the learner complains - although this prompts a search for others which we can be proactive for. Reporting is needed to identify these learners who have commenced an order but have failed to enrol. We…
I do see that one can gift a course using bulk enrollments, but it would help if this were more user-friendly. It is unclear to users what a "bulk enrollment" means and how to use it as a gift. Can there be a simple "Gift This Course" label and feature, along with a short video tutorial on how to use the Gift This Course…
I decided to try out Nudging. I have a test course in Canvas with 2 assignments (one quiz, one file submission). No modules. Removed course dates and deleted any existing sections. Created a listing for it with 14 days to completes and then enrolled with my gmail address. Had our director of ID do the same. Created a nudge…
