HI! As an instructor I grade assignments as they are submitted and before they are due. How do I prevent the loss of all my comments for grading when a student decides to resubmit the assignment before the due date? Thanks!
Hi @AntoinetteKrame ...
I'm a little confused by your question. To my knowledge, you shouldn't be losing any of your comments in the SpeedGrader if your students are re-submitting things to you. For example, in my own sandbox course, I submitted an image to an assignment as a Test Student. Then, I commented on the assignment as an instructor. I then returned to the assignment as a student and re-submitted the assignment with a different image. I then went back to the SpeedGrader as an instructor, and I was still able to see my comments on the right-hand side of the screen. I can also switch between submissions if I need to do that. Check out this Guide:
How do I view the details of a submission for a student in SpeedGrader?
Check out the section on "Evaluate Multiple Submissions" about half-way down.
Hopefully this helps a bit. Sing out if you have any questions...thanks!
I have noticed this on my end too. The comments are not gone. It appears that if you comment on a student submission, when they resubmit, the comment acts as if it is tied to the prior submission. In the top right, there is a dropdown to view prior submissions. If you select the submission you gave feedback on, it will show up correctly in Speedgrader.
This only seems to really appear in Speedgrader. From what I can tell, if a student goes to the Grades page, it will show all comments regardless of when it was submitted by clicking on the comment icon. On your end, from the Gradesheet, if you click the little arrow next to a student's grade, it will show all comments regardless of when it was submitted.
Canvas allows us to copy the same question into multiple Item Banks. When making a quiz, you can select X number of questions to be randomly pulled from an Item Bank. If I'm making a quiz with multiple Item Banks, and the same question appears in 2 of those Item Banks, does Canvas know to not pull the same question twice?…
I have a test (new quiz) that asks students to do some computational or mathematical process and come up with a few specific answers. This is a fill-in-the-blank question. This can be the result of a mathematical, coding, or analytical process. In my case, it is a SQL query. I follow up each of these with an essay question…
We had a situation where an instructor meant to import their course content into next terms course but accidentally imported the content onto the same course thus wiping out all the student grades, submissions, quiz data, and discussion prompt content. I was able to download the content from the Beta Environment, but there…
I assigned the first draft of an assignment. Each student got rubric comments from me and from one peer. The Speed Grader view gives me a "Select Rubric" menu, allowing me to toggle between my comments and the peer comments. But the Gradebook's "Bulk Download Rubrics" command generates a CSV file with only the peers'…
Hi all, I'm looking to see if this has happened for anyone else. A student completed a Classic Quiz and one question was counted wrong that should not have been. In the quiz settings, the instructor entered 9 possible answers for this question. The student entered one of these answers. However, that particular question was…
