How to I turn off the welcome tour so it doesn't pop up every single time I log in to canvas?
@parent ...
Hello there! I believe that you can contact your school's local Canvas administrator or someone at your school's Online Learning/eLearning department, and they can turn it off for your entire school. They may have had a reason they wanted to turn it on for everyone, but that would be a conversation you'd want to have with people at your school.
I hope this will help a bit...thanks! Take care, stay safe, and be well.
That isn't really a solution for an individual by shutting it off to all. Is there a specific thing I can do for my personal settings. It is a pain to have to click through or click the screen down every time I log on.
There is a value that is saved to the browser's local storage once you have completed the tutorial (in case you care, it's canvas-tourpoints-shown-student:"true")I have setup my firefox to delete all cookies and saved data whenever I close the browser - so this value is also deleted.
When your canvas page loads, if this value is missing then it will show you the tutorial.
I wish the browsers would give finer-grain control over what gets deleted, but they don't. The only thing I can do is add an exception so cookies and saved data won't get deleted for the canvas site.
So, if you're getting the welcome tutorial every time you load Canvas, make sure you're browser isn't deleting the cookies and saved data for the site.
It would be nice if Canvas gave you a setting to disable it, since it will still appear when using a different computer to access the site - which, if you're in a school or university setting then I have to imagine using a different computer is the norm. This must get pretty annoying for students.
I wish there were a way to turn it off for your account only, but maybe in a future update, they can make a setting that does that
In the wake of the recent Canvas security incident, many higher‑education instructors are rethinking how they protect their course materials and ensure continuity for students if the LMS becomes unavailable. A common question we’re hearing is how to effectively back up courses “just in case,” especially with an eye toward…
I am currently experiencing an issue where a student’s assignment grade appears in Moderate, but it is not populating in the Canvas gradebook. I have verified the submission is there, but the grade is still missing from the gradebook view. Is there a known fix or additional step needed to get the grade to display properly?
Hi all, Quick question about the Gradebook color status for a 2-part checkpoint discussion. If a student completes the first due date (initial post) but does not complete the required replies by the second due date, is there any way for Canvas to automatically show a color (e.g., missing/late) instead of staying as…
Canvas Portfolios provide a powerful platform for students to document their learning journey, reflect on their progress, and showcase competencies. However, in programs where multiple educators are involved in assessment—such as team teaching, moderation, or competency-based evaluation—there are important questions about…
Hi There, We are in the process of transitioning to Canvas this year and were wanting to connect with any other MYP schools to see how you setup Assignment and grading under your modules. Or you could guide us to any resources you may have.
