Hello,
I am trying to understand the best way to instruct teachers on how to copy New Quizzes from one course to another.
In the document
What does this mean " To import changes to a New Quizzes quiz, you must duplicate the quiz and then import the new quiz into your course.
Thanks, Noah. I accidentally hit send before completing the post, LOL. I've seen some strange stuff happen when instructors try to copy quizzes from one course section to another. The language in the post is a little inconsistent, since the copy function is an export, but it mentions an import (as if something has to be done from the course where the quiz has been copied to)
I have an instructor who has two active Course sessions and as a part of her workflow, copies quizzes from one to the other.
Simply copying the Quiz with the copy-to function does not always lead to consistent results; I think there was an existing quiz in the target course with the same name, and the changes to the quiz in the originator course did not always transfer to the target course. There are about 3 or 4 different ways to transfer quizzes from one course to another. The cleanest way I've found is to export the quiz as a QTI zip file, download it, and then, in the new course, create an empty quiz and then import the QTI zip file.
I will keep experimenting.

Hi there @gncrum !
If all you're looking to do is copy a new quizzes quiz from one course to another, you don't have to duplicate anything, you can just utilize the copy to function. While I am not 100% sure about the additional note you included, my best guess would be if you made changes to a quiz, the best way to ensure it copies over to the other course correctly is to create a duplicate of that quiz in your original course and then copy that duplicate over to the other course.
Here's a video link demonstrating how to copy a new quizzes quiz from one course to another: https://app.guidde.com/share/playbooks/uKAgVxEhFb8PBtBU1UNF4J
I hope this helps! Reach out with any additional questions or concerns you have! Best, Noah
Thank you for sharing @gncrum ! Yeah, I've also run into issues where resources with the same name wouldn't transfer correctly to the other course. Hopefully you find a way that works well for you soon!
Hi @gncrum
Uff — that export / import seems very tedious. And if the Copy-To function isn't consistent, I might try and spend a little time reporting those to Canvas to have that experience improve (I know it's time consuming, and may not be possible to do each time, but just a though…).
I just tried using the Course Import process, to selectively import a New Quizzes quiz/survey, but I discovered they are not listed to select (??) and import. Perhaps this is because New Quizzes is still an "external tool." (??) (I cannot see in your original post the document you are referring to — is it this one? How do I select specific content as part of a course import?). I have to wonder if this is a Bug, or if this is missing functionality — I am definitely interested to be improved, so I'm going to reach out to support and then may end up submitting it as a contribution.
@Hildi_Pardo Just thought I'd pop back in and share, this is the document being referred. It is located towards the top near the notes! https://community.instructure.com/en/kb/articles/661096-how-do-i-copy-a-quiz-to-another-course-in-new-quizzes
Thanks, @Noah !!

Hi all, When uploading a SCORM package and outputting as an assignment, full screen works within the package. However when outputted as a page, it doesn't. Anyone found a getaround that isn't "just use the assignment option??"
Our institution is setting up 9 institutional outcomes in Canvas. Several of our outcomes have multiple skill sets within the rubric. For example: Critical Reading – Skill Set A Critical Reading – Skill Set B Critical Reading – Skill Set C Our understanding is that Canvas Outcomes data reports can provide the overall/total…
I am just curiousas to why there is not a field to enter a description for an outcome at the account level? Or at least edit the rating when you attach/link an account level outcome to a rubric. When you create a new criterion for a rubric, you enter a decription for a rating, but for an account level outcome.
We use a pre- post- model to measure learning which requires student-question matching from two time periods. This requires exporting quiz data to CSV to do the analysis properly. (I can get into more detail if needed.) The New Quizzes Student Analysis CSV export has repeated blocks of ItemID then columns related to that…
