Community Spotlights

CanvasCon26 | Who’s doing the learning? What students want educators to understand about AI

Want to hear what students really think about AI? At CanvasCon ANZ 2026, three students talked openly about how they use it, where it backfired, and what they wish their educators knew. One found out the hard way that letting AI write his notes didn't help him on exam day. They also have some great advice for educators.

CanvasCon26 | Putting AI strategy into practice with Rachel Orston and Professor Martin Bean

Got an AI strategy but not sure how to put it to work? At CanvasCon ANZ 2026, Rachel Orston, Instructure Chief Customer Officer, and Professor Martin Bean talked about closing the gap between plans and practice. They covered why experimenting beats waiting for perfect policies, and how clear guardrails give people the confidence to try new things. As Professor Bean put it, "The worst strategy in the face of AI is to do nothing."
