Roll Call is clearly a very dated tool despite it being the built-in Attendance tracking option in Canvas. It has multiple visual bugs, and lacks basic features that are standard in other attendance-recording tools, including custom status sets, custom early warning messages, reporting for both students and faculty, and the ability to allow students to self-record their own attendance. It does not appear to have been updated in any meaningful way in several years.
The LTI 1.1 and 2.0 deprecation announcement includes a list of Canvas LTI apps that will receive remediation before the end of 2027. This list does not include Roll Call.
Is Roll Call a feature that Instructure plans to support long-term, and if yes, when will it receive meaningful development resources?
