New Features
Guides
Guide Schedule by Day(s) of Week
Location to Enable Feature | Guide: Scheduling |
Permissions | Impact Admin with Guide publishing privileges |
Affected Areas | Guide Scheduling |
Summary
In Guides, users can now choose specific days of the week for guides to display. This allows more control over delivery – for example, showing a guide only on weekdays or restricting it to certain days during a campaign window.
Change Benefit
- Flexible guide scheduling: Guides can now be limited to specific days of the week, so a guide only shows up when it’s relevant, such as a weekly office hours reminder or resource center support escalation routing during winter or spring breaks.
Feature Workflow
In the Guides set up page, navigate to Scheduling and click the Edit button.
The Scheduling section allows you to set the guide start date and time [1], expiration date and time [2], and specific days [3]. Then click the Save button [4].
Note: If you set a start date but don't change the guide status to Scheduled, the guide won't go live as expected. If the status isn't changed to Scheduled, keep the following in mind:
- Guides left in Draft stay in Draft when the start date and time arrives.
- Guides already set to Public aren't affected by a scheduled start date because they're already live.
Updated Features
Segments
New Metadata Field: Canvas Sub Account Names List
Location to Enable Feature | Segments |
Permissions | Impact Admin |
Affected Areas | Segments |
Summary
This update provides more accurate sub-account data by including sub-account information that was previously omitted if no course was present within that sub-account. This allows administrators to create more precise segments for their guides.
Note: Utilizing the Canvas Sub Account Names List metadata moving forward is recommended for creating segments based on sub-account name. Existing segments using "Canvas Sub-Account Name" will continue to function, but it has been renamed to "OLD Canvas Sub-Account Name." There is no impact to currently active guides that utilize this metadata.
Change Benefit
- More accurate sub-account targeting: Guides now factor in parent sub-account information when building segments, so administrators can target students with more precision.
Feature Workflow
- Navigate to the "Segments" area.
- When creating or editing a segment, select "Canvas Sub Account Names List" as the metadata field.
- Configure your segment rules using this new field.
- Note: Existing segments using "Canvas Sub-Account Name" will continue to function, but it has been renamed to "OLD Canvas Sub-Account Name."
