Could the way student names are displayed in People > Groups please be changed.
At the moment, they appear to display in the format:
[Preferred Name] [Middle name] [Last name]
and it's not evident how the names are sorted within the group
The inclusion of [Middle name] often means the student's Last name is missing are only a certain number of characters are displayed.
For example, a student with the name [Preferred name: Gonzalez-Abraham] [Middle name: Aloysius Mustafa Cullen] [Last name: Jones] will appear some thing like "Gonzalez Aloysis Mustafa Cull…"
Also, because it's not evident where the fist, middle and last names begin and end, it's hard to parse the names. This is especially the case with names in unfamiliar languages or from nations with naming conventions that are unfamiliar or result in names that look similar. For example, Sri Lankan names are exceptionally long.
It would be helpful if the following changes were made:
- Exclude [Middle name]
- Display in the format: [Last name], [First name] (ie, include a comma after surname to show where First name begins)—this would make it easier to match names in People > Groups and Grades
- Sort by [Last name] within each group. —this would also make it easier to find and match names to Grades
