Session Description
How do we design assessments that remain meaningful when generative AI is a click away? This interactive session moves beyond the "cat-and-mouse" game of AI detection and explores how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides a roadmap for academic integrity. By reframing AI as a design constraint, we can shift from high-stakes "products" to scaffolded, process-oriented learning.
Participants will explore how to provide Multiple Means of Action and Expression to ensure students are evaluated on their unique synthesis, personal reflection, and contextual knowledge—areas where AI falls short. We will discuss AI not just as a threat, but as a supportive scaffold for executive functioning when used strategically. Through hands-on activities, attendees will learn to build flexible pathways for feedback and assessment that inherently reduce barriers for diverse learners, ensuring assignments are both rigorous and equitable.
