As generative AI rapidly transforms higher education, institutions face a critical challenge: how to harness innovation while maintaining pedagogical integrity, data privacy, and faculty trust. Yale's approach demonstrates that strategic partnerships and rigorous vetting processes are essential.
This session offers an in-depth look at the internal processes and partnerships driving AI integration within Yale's Canvas environment. We will outline our methodology for evaluating, piloting, and scaling AI tools—with emphasis on data privacy, instructional value, and alignment with faculty needs.
Central to this discussion is our pilot of "Intelligent Insights," Canvas's new analytics tool designed to identify at-risk students early in the semester. We will share evaluation findings, including how data-driven insights enable proactive intervention and support.
