Session Description
How do you help thousands of graduate students move from thesis to thriving… Without another “career readiness” workshop? You build The Next Step: CSU Graduate Career Readines, a practical, systemwide course that helps graduate students navigate from learning to earning with a little more confidence and a lot more evidence of what they can do.
The California State University (CSU) Chancellor’s Office and San Diego State University facilitated the development of this course with contributions from eight CSU campuses. Grounded in the eight National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies, the course gives students the foundation to recognize existing strengths, build new capabilities, and confidently communicate professional value during interviews. It also creates a model for embedding these badged skills directly into academic programs, so faculty can integrate career readiness into existing courses without adding to their workload.
