Session Description
Students are increasingly using generative AI to support their coursework, but these tools are typically disconnected from the specific materials, expectations, and learning objectives of a given class. This session examines an alternative approach: using an AI teaching assistant that is grounded entirely in Canvas course content and designed to support student reasoning rather than provide direct answers.
We will present classroom implementations in which students interact with a course specific AI assistant trained on lectures, readings, and assignments. These interactions are structured to prompt explanation, revision, and connection to relevant course materials.
