Less of a question and more of a feedback piece… Our old unnamed LMS allowed us to copy an assignment to multiple courses instead of just one at a time. This would be an incredibly useful feature for teachers that have the same course 6 times in a day, but do not want to link grade books in our SIS. Thanks!
@Nare95565185 …
Ah, but this is actually already possible…if you are willing to use Canvas Commons. Here is what you could do:
One of the nice things about doing it this way is that if you ever needed to make a change (let's say you found some errors on the resource that you need to update in each course), you would update it only one time in the original course that you had shared the resource to in Commons. Then, you re-share the resource to Canvas Commons so that there's an updated version available. Canvas Commons recognizes there is an update to the resource, and you would be able to update all courses that use that resource at the same time. I like to think of this as, "Update once. Distribute to many."
Here are a couple more Guides that will help:
Hopefully these resources will be of some help to you. Sing out if you have any questions. Good luck!
Hi @Nare95565185 …
After you update your resource (such as an entire module) in your original course, you then need to re-share that same resource back to Canvas Commons. So, if you shared just that module, you would need to re-share that module from the same course. Or, if you only shared a page from a course and then updated that page, you'd need to re-share that page back to Commons. Once the resource (whatever it is) is re-shared, you should be able to add some details (kind of like "version notes" so that you can keep track of what was updated). After you have fully re-shared the resource, wait a little bit (the guide I linked to said it may take up to 30 minutes for this to process) to make sure the updated version is available in Canvas. Then, assuming that you had previously imported that shared resource from Commons to multiple sections, you should see some sort of message within Commons letting you know that the resource has been updated, and if you'd like to update the associated items in the other courses. You would NOT re-import the shared resource from Commons to the courses because, as you said, this might create another module in your course. It should update the existing module. Per this guide, How do I view updates to resources I previously imported from Commons? - Instructure Community, "If you choose to update a previously shared resource, the previous version will be replaced. If you choose not to update a previously shared resource, a new resource will be created."
I hope this will be of some help.
Hmmmm… That's actually pretty cool. 👀 Thanks for the resources!
Hey again @Chris_Hofer. I went ahead and tried your suggestion. After I update the resource, let's say an entire module, I import it back to my other courses and it makes a second copy instead of updating the existing module + assignments within it. If this is the case, wouldn't I need to go to each course and delete the old module?

Hi all, When uploading a SCORM package and outputting as an assignment, full screen works within the package. However when outputted as a page, it doesn't. Anyone found a getaround that isn't "just use the assignment option??"
Cordial saludo Actualmente estamos presentando una inconsistencia en New Quizzes al momento de realizar la migración y posterior edición de las evaluaciones. Our institution is setting up 9 institutional outcomes in Canvas. Several of our outcomes have multiple skill sets within the rubric. I am just curiousas to why there is not a field to enter a description for an outcome at the account level? Or at least edit the rating when you attach/link an account level outcome to a rubric. When you create a new criterion for a rubric, you enter a decription for a rating, but for an account level outcome.
We use a pre- post- model to measure learning which requires student-question matching from two time periods. This requires exporting quiz data to CSV to do the analysis properly. (I can get into more detail if needed.) The New Quizzes Student Analysis CSV export has repeated blocks of ItemID then columns related to that…
