Inbox and Distinguishing Courses

This instructor has several courses and needs to differentiate which section it is. It's not allowing her to distinguish this in the inbox. How can we fix this so it works?

Can you change the settings in Canvas so I can change my course labels? This helps me organize course labels and at least know which section an Inbox message is coming from. Right now, they look all identical. I have been able to do this in the past.

Have you tried using the "Nicknames" feature of Canvas? Any user can create a "Nickname" for one or more of their courses via the Canvas Dashboard. "Nicknames" are something that only the user can see. So, if you and I were taking the same course, I could give my course a different "Nickname" than what you might choose for your own "Nickname". I would never see your "Nickname", and you would never see my "Nickname" for the course. "Nicknames" do carry over into some areas in Canvas. In my testing of my own sandbox course, I renamed my sandbox course to "my funny nickname", and you can see that in the Inbox, you can see that I can select "my funny nickname" from the drop-down list. So, your instructor can give a course "Nickname" to each of her courses to distinguish the names and help identify them better. Also, keep in mind that using the "Nickname" feature does not, in any way, change the official name of the course as it was initially set up in your Canvas environment. (Often, these course names come from your school's Student Information System, a.k.a. SIS.)
