Here is a screenshot from an attempt to create a new Athena account. What does it mean when it says "supports open Canvas connections" or "Canvas Connection Open"? Can we close our Canvas instance to connections?
Unique to Athena. Opting in to the Canvas connection with your developer key does not grant access to any other integration or third-party.
I would also be interested to know more about this, especially if there is a way for Canvas admins to prevent a user from associating Athena with our Canvas environments.
Hello!
"Open Canvas connection" just means a student can link their own Athena account to Canvas via OAuth. This happens either because the student's paying for their own account and the school's opted in, or because the school's opted in and is covering the cost for students (that's a sponsorship). Right now everything's showing as "open" because we haven't flipped on the opt-in flag yet. That's rolling out by EOD (5pm MT) today, so by later today you should see your instance switch to closed unless you've explicitly opted in. So yes, you can absolutely close your instance to connections. Check back later today and it will already say closed if you haven't opted in!

The fact that the teacher's gradebook view only displays the letter grade in the "override" column makes it difficult for the teacher to review grades, as the numerical grade entered cannot be determined in that view.
Screen readers seem to read out the LaTex and not the equation.
Whenever possible, I prefer to have my students take in-class quizzes and tests on their laptops.
