This issue has slowly spread over a few courses today: Students receive an "Access Denied" error when trying to view or download PowerPoint presentations posted by their classmates in Canvas discussions.
This issue is occurring across multiple courses and affects all enrolled students trying to access peer uploads. Interestingly, the posting student can view their own file, and as an Administrator the attachments open without any issues for me. However, if I use the "Act As" feature to view the discussion as a student, the "Access Denied" screen appears when clicking a classmate's presentation.
I have already verified that discussion posting permissions are active and that file attachments are enabled in the course discussion settings. The problem persists regardless of whether the file was attached using the paperclip tool or uploaded via the Rich Content Editor.
Because this is impacting students' ability to review peer presentations across several classes, we suspect there may be a backend access permission issue occurring at the account level.
Has anyone else run int this?
Thanks in advance to anyone chiming in!
