The recent overhaul to the "Assign To" interface has introduced severe workflow friction for instructors who manage grading based on hard closing deadlines.
Previously, the Assignments Index page provided an immediate, single-glance overview of both Due Dates and Closed (Available Until) dates for every row. This layout allowed instructors to quickly cross-reference assignments that were officially locked before initiating grading, ensuring that late student submissions were not missed or locked out mid-evaluation.
Hiding these critical structural milestones inside an interactive side tray or nested under three-dot submenus significantly increases the number of clicks required to execute daily grading workflows. Moving dates out of direct view forces manual navigation through multiple menus or Modules just to verify an assignment's status.
Please consider restoring inline visibility for both Due and Close dates on the main Assignments Index view, or provide a toggle configuration switch that allows instructors to re-enable this metadata on their table layout.
