Export not downloading during free canvas open window.

How do I fix? Course export finishes, but I keep getting the following message on each of my courses. Is there a way to tell how large the course is before attempting to export? I've never had trouble exporting them before…

Hello all,

A fix for the course export error has been deployed a few hours ago. Please try re-exporting your course content again and let us know if you're still experiencing issues. Do keep in mind that given several users are on the platform at the same time doing the same thing, the exports can sometimes take a little longer, however, it should be able to be done.

I've been trying the same for over an hour - tried multiple different ways, different browsers, opened the laptop app etc. nothing is working. Same error. My file size is less then half the max downloadable.

Not to wish ill on anyone else, but at least I know others are having the same issue, and it's not just something I'm doing wrong. Thanks for replying. Hopefully, they'll get it resolved.

How can I see the file size of the course before exporting?

I think it's listed on the bottom of files. I can't get back into the website to verify, Hopefully, we all thought we would beat the business hour rush and things will ease up.

Same here! It says that the export is completed, but when I go to download the export, it says:

I unfortunately am having the same problem, even with small courses. I'm running the export succesfully, but then cannot download it. I'm really hoping that this gets resolved.

Hello! If you have not tried since approximately 8:30 AM ET / 8:35 AM ET, please try again. I was originally able to duplicate the problem but since that time I have been able to download the course as an exported IMSCC file.

Copy & paste / manually exporting from each assignments, page, announcements, etc. may be the best solution, albeit tedious.

Thank you. I have been up since midnight trying to recover my content, and I finally have it.

This experience has been truly awful. I completely understand the security concerns and why the system needed to be taken offline. However, the way this entire situation was handled—and the almost complete lack of communication throughout the process (aside from your responses)—has been incredibly disappointing.

I don't think Canvas fully understands the impact this has had on educators. The sudden loss of course content, coupled with 2 months of uncertainty and almost no communication, has caused an enormous amount of stress for teachers who rely on this platform. Many of us are not highly paid educators who chose Canvas Free for Teachers because it was such a valuable resource. In fact, I believe many would even be willing to pay for a reliable version of the service.

If possible, please pass this feedback along to leadership. Someone at a higher level should take responsibility for how this was managed. After more than two months of waiting, it is difficult to understand why the restoration process today was not fully prepared to work smoothly during the announced 24-hour access window.
