For many of us who have used Canvas Free for Teachers for years and don't want to re-create the wheel for the 26-27 school year. Is there a possible option for us to purchase a single-payer option for our classes?
My PK–12 school district has chosen a fixed-price, per-pupil learning management system to reduce costs, but that decision comes at the expense of student preparedness. While the platform may meet basic instructional needs, it does not provide students—especially graduating seniors—with experience using the type of learning management system they are likely to encounter in college. Canvas has become the standard platform at many colleges and universities, and exposing students to it before graduation would ease their transition to post-secondary education, strengthen their digital learning skills, and better prepare them for academic success. If our goal is to equip students for life beyond high school, we should prioritize tools that support that mission, not simply those that offer the lowest cost.
If a single-payer option is available, when will we know? Many schools around the nation have already started, or will before Labor Day.
