Hi Canvas Community! đź‘‹
I'd like to propose a feature that would benefit both instructors and students: a customizable pop-up warning that appears before a student submits an assignment (essays, homework, quizzes, etc.). ✅📝
đź’ˇ The idea: This pop-up could remind students to double-check key details before finalizing their submission. For example, confirming they've attached the correct file, reviewed the assignment instructions, or met formatting requirements. Instructors could customize the message text to fit their specific course or assignment needs.
This functionality isn't currently available natively in Canvas, and I believe it would be a meaningful addition as it helps reduce avoidable submission errors while giving instructors an easy way to reinforce expectations at the exact moment it matters most. 🎯
📞 I wasn't able to submit this directly to the Ideas & Roadmap page, so I called the Canvas Help Desk, and the representative, Ann, has passed the suggestion along to the Canvas internal team.
🙏 I'd love your help: since top-voted community ideas are actively reviewed for future development, I'd appreciate any guidance on how to post this directly to the Ideas & Roadmap page, which currently isn't working for me. Once I'm able to post it there, any upvotes or feedback from fellow educators who see value in this feature would mean a lot! 🌟
