We’re excited to share where Canvas Career is headed and how customer feedback is shaping our roadmap for the second half of 2026. Over the past two quarters, customers have helped sharpen our priorities as Canvas Career moves from launch into maturity: reducing barriers to learning activation, connecting learners through cohort-style experiences, supporting skills-based outcomes, and strengthening the quality, reliability, and scalability organizations need to grow with confidence.
Customer listening channels:
We heard from customers through a Customer Discovery Session, Product Council conversations, Early Adopter Programs, and by working closely with customers on their Canvas Career implementations and pilots.
Top themes we heard:
- Cohort-style and peer learning - Customers need learning experiences that connect people, not just content, by enabling collaboration, networking, discussion, and community across cohorts, teams, programs, and alumni groups.
- Skills, outcomes, and learning ROI - Customers need to connect learning to measurable outcomes by tracking skills, demonstrating competency, supporting credentials, and proving the impact of learning on careers and organizational goals.
- Organization-ready user management and automation - Customers need flexible ways to organize people, manage enterprise and partner relationships, and automate workflows so they can scale learning programs without increasing administrative burden.
- Learning activation and migration - Customers need a faster path from program idea to active learners by reducing migration effort, simplifying content creation and transformation, and removing friction from launch and adoption workflows.
- Quality, reliability, and speed
- Customers need a dependable platform that performs consistently, scales confidently, integrates reliably, and minimizes the day-to-day friction that slows adoption and growth.
Key roadmap updates and activity:
The Q3 roadmap reflects what we’ve been hearing and focuses Canvas Career around four connected outcomes:
- Learning that connects people
- What’s new or in progress: Cohorts and networking/community concepts are moving the product toward connected learning experiences that support teams, departments, alumni groups, and professional communities.
- Why it matters: This helps bring peer learning and professional networking into Canvas Career with integrated communities that keep learners engaged before, during, and after their programs.
- Micro-learning and enhanced skills discovery
- What’s new or in progress: Collections are expanding the learner experience beyond course catalogs by enabling microlearning, self-directed browsing and enrollment, and AI-generated skill-based recommendations.
- Why it matters: Learning providers can maximize the value of their content by enabling micro-learning and empowering learners to self-direct their development. This supports the shift from course completion to career growth and real-world outcomes.
- People-first architecture, automation, and actionable insight
- What’s new or in progress: Canvas Career is moving toward a more user-centered architecture through Groups, Tags, workflow automation, and custom dashboards. Current and upcoming work includes automation triggers for course completion, inactivity, and attribute changes; actions such as enrollment, access grants, and messaging; and dashboards that help administrators surface the most important organizational insights.
- Why it matters: This reduces manual administrative work and supports the organizational structures customers need: teams, departments, enterprise customers, partners, alumni, and role-based learning paths. It also gives leaders better visibility into progress, engagement, and outcomes.
- Quality, modern authoring, and platform readiness at scale
- What’s new or in progress: The roadmap is prioritizing reliability, scalability, performance, and quality alongside the Block Content Editor and migration improvements. Since March, the team has focused on better bug discovery, automated testing and observability, and execution against customer-reported defects. Up next is continued latency reduction, bug fixes, and a more reliable end-to-end product experience.
- Why it matters: Customers need confidence before they scale. A faster, more dependable product, clearer migration paths, safer authoring workflows, and stronger test/sandbox options make it easier for organizations to launch, expand, and advocate for Canvas Career internally.
