This powerful update bridges the gap between curriculum planning and classroom execution for institutions that use Canvas and Mastery Connect, providing a unified, efficient, and automated experience for managing district-wide assessments.
What's Changing?
We are introducing a direct connection between your curriculum management and your learning management ecosystem, transforming how assessments are deployed:
- Canvas Blueprint Integration: A new "Link to Blueprint" option within your Curriculum Map sidebar allows you to connect a map directly to any designated Canvas Blueprint course.
- Automated Assignment Syncing: The moment you add an assessment to a linked Curriculum Map, it automatically generates a corresponding assignment within your Canvas Blueprint course — no manual duplication required.
- Instant Mastery Tracker Creation: When a child course is associated with your Canvas Blueprint course, a fully aligned Mastery Tracker is automatically spun up for that section, pre-loaded with all curriculum map standards.
Designed for Consistency and Efficiency
This integration is about more than just linking tools. By bringing together Canvas Blueprints and Mastery Connect Curriculum Maps, districts can make instructional planning more efficient while supporting consistent, district-wide alignment across courses.
Key capabilities include:
- Effortless Scaling: Deploy standardized assessments from a single blueprint out to multiple child courses instantly, saving hours of administrative setup for teachers.
- On-Demand Re-Syncing: If you modify an assessment's title or details within Mastery Connect, a clear notification status alerts you that changes have occurred. With a simple click of the Re-sync to Blueprint button, updates are seamlessly pushed across your Canvas ecosystem.
- Flexible Mapping Controls: Easily manage your connections with the Unlink from Blueprint option. To maintain data integrity, a Canvas Blueprint course can only be linked to one curriculum map at a time, automatically disappearing from the selection pool until unlinked.
How to Get Started
Ready to connect your curriculum design directly to your digital classrooms ahead of the upcoming school term?
To have the Canvas Blueprints integration enabled for your district immediately, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager to initiate the setup request. Following our opt-in period, this feature will be enabled for all Canvas + Mastery Connect users in August 2026.
Quick Setup Overview:
- Create your course and enable it as a Blueprint course within Canvas Settings.
- Open your chosen Curriculum Map in Mastery Connect and select Link to Blueprint from the right-hand actions menu.
3. Select your Canvas course, click Link Blueprint, and let the automated syncing handle the rest!
