Good morning,
In trying to access my free instructor's account last night, I came to learn for the first time that Canvas has discontinued the program. I also have several years of work stored in that account that includes five different course preps! I entrust Canvas to store it there as my course preps change frequently enough, about every two years or so. When the security breach occurred back in May, I did not hear anything at all about the FFT accounts being shut down. I did not receive any email notification, to my personal free account or to my university account, that this program was being discontinued. So, that means that I did not have the opportunity to access my account and retrieve all of my work during the short two-day window of time in May because I was not aware of it!
I don't access this FFT account every week, or even every month. I only try to access it when I need to pull some of the work that I created into my current courses that I am teaching. Those times usually are during the summer or semester breaks. I called Support immediately this morning, and they are not at all helpful. They keep reading the same script to me with no concrete information, no definite dates of recovery.
Who can help me access these courses that were in the FFT program? I am returning to a few of these preps in August and I was counting on accessing that work to help me with setting up my classes that begin in August. Who can tell me if all of these years of work will be available to me once again, and when? If not until mid-August, that is way too late! I will have to rebuild and recreate from scratch!
