Session Description
Districts collect more student data than ever before, yet many Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) still struggle to turn that information into instructional action. In this session, you’ll see how Kershaw County School District built an integrated instructional ecosystem using Canvas, MasteryConnect, and Learn Platform to transform assessment data into better teaching decisions—and ultimately, improved student outcomes.
Through a fun Lord of the Rings theme, we’ll follow the journey from pre-assessment to instruction, formative assessment, intervention, PLC conversations, and evaluating the impact of instructional technology investments. You’ll leave with practical strategies you can adapt regardless of your district’s size.

Every district has data.
The real challenge isn’t collecting it—it’s knowing what story it’s tells and deciding what to do next.
Over the past two years, our district has learned that the most valuable data isn’t the report that sits on a dashboard. It’s the information that changes what teachers do tomorrow morning.
We’ll explore how we connected assessment data, instructional resources, PLC conversations, and technology evaluation into one continuous improvement cycle. Along the way, I’ll share both our successes and our mistakes—because we learned just as much from what didn’t work as from what did.
I’m especially excited to show how teacher-created formative assessments, high-quality instructional materials, and thoughtful PLC conversations helped us move beyond simply measuring learning to actually improving it. We’ll also discuss how districts can evaluate whether their technology investments are making a measurable difference in student achievement rather than simply generating usage statistics.
