Session Description
The University of Iowa has developed a course‑building wizard that provides a structured and accessible foundation for Canvas courses.
Attendees will see the wizard generate course and instructor information, student‑facing resource sections for course tools, instructor‑focused guides to support course development, and weekly module shells aligned to accessible instructional design.
What this session is really about
Along with compliance concerns, one piece of frequent feedback we get from students is that it is difficult to jump between their courses when the navigation and course setups are completely different. Canvas can be hard. Building an easily navigable course is something we strive for. Instead of using course templates or blueprints as solutions for this, we decided to build our own course wizard. This session will walk you through the why, the wizard, and what’s next.
