This session explores how K-12 users can leverage Canvas Studio to create engaging, interactive video experiences. Discover how to embed questions, spark discussions, and use analytics to inform instruction and enhance student engagement in your district's courses, all within Canvas!
What this session is really about!
Let’s be honest: we’ve all assigned a brilliant educational video, only to realize later that students likely hit "play," minimized the tab, and zoned out. In the K-12 world, keeping eyes and minds on the screen is a constant battle. We also want "screen time" to mean something.
This session skips the high-level theory and gets straight to the practical reality. It's about transforming standard "watch time" into a dynamic, two-way conversation between the student and the content. We’re going to look at how to break up the passive "zombie stare" by strategically embedding in-video checks for understanding and fostering authentic discussions right inside the timeline.
More importantly, we’re going to unpack the analytics. You’ll walk away knowing exactly who is watching and for how long, where they're dropping off, and how to use that data to tweak your courses before the next lesson.
