The first InstructureCon Unconference took place in 2015, and over the years, it has continued to evolve in true Unconference fashion! Different people, different conversations, different ideas, but the same shared purpose: creating space for people to come together, talk about the things that matter most to them, and learn from each other!
So, what is an unconference? It is not your typical sit-and-listen conference session. There is no set agenda created months in advance and no formal presenters standing at the front of the room with slide decks. Instead, the people who attend help create the experience! You bring the ideas, questions, challenges, curiosities, and “I wonder if anyone else is dealing with this?” topics. Then, those ideas become the conversations for the day!
By the time Friday morning arrives, many of us have heard about new tools, new ideas, new strategies, and new possibilities. The Unconference gives us space to pause and ask, “Now what?” What do we want to try first? What questions do we still have? What challenges are we trying to solve? Instead of rushing home with a notebook full of ideas, we get time to talk through those ideas while the energy of the week is still fresh!
And yes, the Unconference is flexible! You can join a conversation, move to another one, come and go as your schedule allows, or stay the whole time. Whether you are an educator, administrator, instructional designer, trainer, developer, support professional, or someone who wears several hats at once, this is a chance to connect with other Instructure product users, trade ideas, ask questions, and leave with something you can actually use when you get back home!
