We would like to suggest introducing keyboard shortcuts for SpeedGrader annotation tools, allowing instructors to switch tools quickly without using the mouse.
Adding keyboard shortcuts for annotation tools would significantly improve SpeedGrader usability and efficiency, especially for instructors who rely heavily on annotated feedback. It would extend the existing keyboard shortcut system in a natural and consistent way.
A simple numeric shortcut system could be used for consistency and ease of learning, for example:
- 1 = Highlight tool
- 2 = Underline tool
- 3 = Strikeout tool
- 4 = Free draw / pen tool
- 5 = Text comment tool
- 6 = Eraser tool
Pressing the corresponding number would immediately activate that annotation tool while grading.
