Long-term trends are hard to spot when your data window is short. Month-over-month comparisons, seasonal patterns, and historical baselines all need history to work. Until now, IgniteAI Ask Your Data hasn't had enough weblogs history to support those longer questions.
We're extending weblogs retention in Ask Your Data to a full 12 months. That gives you the depth to track longer arcs of activity and engagement across your institution.
What's changing
We've updated the weblogs data pipeline and storage so that a full year of logs is retained and available in Ask Your Data. The change spans ingestion, storage, and the downstream processes that power Ask Your Data, so the extended history flows through to the queries, Pinboards, and reports you already use.
Why it matters
Short retention windows force short-window thinking. With a full year of weblogs data in Ask Your Data, you can:
- See seasonal patterns clearly: Engagement, activity, and usage rhythms across an academic year come into focus when you have a full year to look at.
- Track long-term trends: Multi-month shifts in behavior or adoption are easier to spot when you're not fighting a truncated window.
For institutions building data-informed habits, the longer view also makes it easier to set baselines, measure the impact of changes, and tell a credible story about progress over time.
What you'll notice
For most users, nothing changes about how you query Ask Your Data — there's just more data behind your questions. Existing queries, Pinboards, and reports will continue to work as before, with the extended history available going forward.
