When we first shared plans to retire Portfolium and the legacy Canvas ePortfolio, we set a sunset date of June 30, 2026. Since then, we've heard from a lot of you — in community threads, on customer calls, and through our CSM and product teams in every region.
The feedback came through clearly: migrating to a new tool is a big change, and you need more time to properly evaluate what comes next.
So we're extending the timeline. Portfolium and the legacy Canvas ePortfolio will now remain available through December 30, 2026.
Why we're extending the timeline.
We want to acknowledge that the past few weeks have been hard. Holding a rigid portfolio migration timeline on top of the disruption from the recent security incident isn’t the right call. Rebuilding your trust also means not creating disruption when we don't have to. Extending this date is one tangible way we can give you the space to plan on your own terms.
We’re extending the sunset timeline so that you have enough runway to test Canvas Portfolio and upcoming functionality being added to it against what you’re used to, figure out what works for you, and make informed decisions about next steps. Those extra six months give your teams room to pilot, train educators, gather student feedback, and plan exports and migrations without rushing.
We're still actively improving Canvas Portfolio.
While the legacy tools remain available, we’ll do our part and continue our work on Canvas Portfolio. We're building out the capabilities customers tell us matter most, and several new items are now on our public-facing roadmap:

Keeping student content.
We want students to have time to preserve their work before the legacy tools wind down. For admins, the ePortfolio report under account-level reports remains the best way to identify users at your institution who'll need to export content from the legacy native Canvas ePortfolio tool before December 30.

- Explore Canvas Portfolio in your environment and continue to share your feedback in the community.
- Review the roadmap items linked above and flag which features are most critical for your use cases.
- Start identifying the users and content that will need to be exported before December 30, 2026.
