Imported New Quizzes always import in an unpublished state

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 6/3/26.

Summary:

Importing (course copy, Importer tool, Copy To…) New Quizzes always results in an unpublished version of the New Quiz, regardless of the publication state in the source course.

Expected Behavior:

Imported New Quizzes should retain the publication state of original content, like other Canvas content.

Steps to Reproduce:

Add a published New Quiz to a course
Under course settings, use the Course Copy option to make a copy of your course with the published New Quiz
Note that once the import finishes the New Quiz you imported is in the unpublished state
