How do I submit a student's work for them into Canvas if they have sent me theh file via a different path or they are having difficulty with Canvas themselves?
If you go to the gradebook slot for that student you should see an option "submit as student" from the arrow menu. You do need to be a teacher in the course to see that option.
Hi there @MarnaCarroll4093563 ,
While @Todd_E is correct, do take note that institutions do have the option to turn this setting off. If you can't find the submit as student button option, I recommend reaching out to your Canvas admin to see if they can help.
Best, Noah
Hi @MarnaCarroll4093563 …
In addition to the responses that you've already received, here's a Guide for your reference:
How do I submit an assignment on behalf of a student as an instructor? - Instructure Community
Hope this will help as well!
Whether this option is visible depends on the settings of your institution. In our institution this is disabled for all except some Canvas administrators.
My institution is switching to Canvas Fall 26. I have traditionally given paper exams that are completed and turned in to me. I then scan them and enter the grade. Will that process still work?
Hi @ChadBandy84044521 …
Canvas assignments include an "On Paper" submission type, which sounds close to what you are looking for. Students can still submit a physical sheet of paper to you in class, and you'll be able to have a column in your course Gradebook to enter a grade. Check out this Guide:
How do I add or edit details in an assignment? - Instructure Community
Specifically, check out the section on "Select Submission Type" about half-way down the page. One of the options is "On Paper". Do you think that will work for your needs?
Thank you all! I found the submit for student button! This was a great help.
Yesterday, after much trial and error…I concluded the new quizzes matching choice options do not work as I expected, and have used with other LMS. I thought that I could provide students a matching choice quiz with multiple attempts that would report incorrectly answered matches on the first attempt, and display the…
I have seen documentation that says you must recopy your iCal link and resubscribe when you are enrolled in new classes, does this mean my iCal feed link changes each time, or do i just need to re-fetch the .ics file?
We use course pacing to manage due dates, because we run ~20 something courses each quarter and manually setting due dates would be a nightmare. Several courses have two core topics. We want to allow students to choose which of these they will pursue first. Is there any way to configure multiple course paces with different…
Hoping someone can explain for me. We're using pacing to avoid manually dating regular assignments each quarter, but the dates I see are based on when the course was instantiated, while students see dates based on when they were added to the course by [backend software I don't know anything about, presumably]. If I set…
Has anyone else had issues with an influx of duplicate users in Canvas? Ours is currently in the form of an email that already exists, becoming a new user - and not automatically merging with the user ID with the same email that also is linked to our SIS ID correctly as well. For example, user 1 is xyz@gmail.com without a…
