The Impact you've been waiting for is hereWe've been listening. And today, we're delivering.
Instructure customers have been telling us what would help them better enable, engage, and support their learners, administrators, and institutions. They need more flexibility, more reach, more control, and more ways to meet people right where they are at the moment they need help most.
Today, we're thrilled to announce the launch of the new Impact by Instructure, delivered on a new platform with your feedback at the center of every decision.
This isn't just an upgrade. It's a transformation.
Delivering on what you told us
The new Impact platform reflects the voices of our Impact admins who shared what was working, what wasn't, and what they wished existed. What follows is a look at the ten biggest improvements and why we're so excited about each one.
1. Multi-step walkthroughs, made easy
Creating guided experiences used to require significant time and technical lift. Not anymore. Impact's redesigned authoring experience makes it faster and more intuitive than ever to build multi-step walkthroughs that guide users through multi-step processes (from course creation to grading setup) without ever leaving the Instructure platform.
If you've been sitting on ideas for walkthroughs but dreading the build, now's your moment.
2. Launch walkthroughs directly from the Resource Center
Your Resource Center just got a serious upgrade. Users can now launch walkthroughs directly from it, turning your help hub into an interactive guide that meets learners, teachers, and admins in the moment of need. Help that's embedded, immediate, and effective.
3. In-app messaging for Instructure mobile apps
Your community doesn't just live on their desktops, and now Impact doesn't either. With support for in-app messaging across Instructure mobile apps, you can reach students, instructors, and staff wherever they are. Send critical messages, highlight new features, or offer timely tips within the native mobile experience they already use every day.
4. Integration across the entire Instructure platform
Impact now works across the full Instructure ecosystem. Whether your institution uses Canvas, Mastery, Parchment Digital Badges, or other Instructure tools, you can deliver consistent, targeted in-app experiences across all of them from a single place.
5. Snooze: Because timing is everything
Sometimes users aren't ready to engage with a message right now. That's okay. With Impact's new snooze functionality, end-users can dismiss a message temporarily and come back to it at a better time. This means better engagement, less frustration, and messages that actually get read.
It's a small feature with a big impact on how users feel about in-app communication.
6. Institution-specific theming and branding
Your institution has a brand. Now your in-app messages can reflect it. Impact's new theming and branding capabilities allow you to customize the look and feel of guides to match your institution's identity: colors, fonts, logos, and more.
7. In-app surveys and polls
Speaking of polls, they're here! Gather real-time feedback from your users directly within an in-app message. Embed surveys and polls directly into your in-app experience to capture sentiment, validate decisions, and keep a continuous pulse on your community.
8. Granular guide metrics: Including poll and survey responses
Understanding what's working has always been part of what makes Impact valuable. The new platform takes that further with granular guide metrics that now include responses from in-app polls and surveys. As one Early Adopter customer shared, "I love that we now have insight to what individual thing got clicked rather than just something got clicked. That's a great enhancement."
9. Onboarding guides in the Resource Center
First impressions matter, especially when a user encounters a new feature or workflow for the first time. Impact now supports onboarding guides that live directly within the Resource Center, walking users step-by-step through key processes like setting up a course for the first time, configuring grading, or exploring a new feature.
Onboarding that's contextual, accessible, and always available.
10. Granular permissions and publishing stages
For institutions with complex teams and workflows, control matters. The new permissions and publishing stages framework gives administrators the ability to define who can create, review, approve, and publish content. This reduces errors, ensures quality, and gives you confidence that what goes out to your community is exactly what it should be.
