In progress New Quiz attempts aren't auto-submitting after the Until date

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 4/28/26.

Summary:

In progress New Quiz attempts without an active session are not auto-submitted when the Until date for the associated assignment object passes.

Expected behavior:

All in progress attempts should be submitted for a New Quiz when the Until date passes.

Steps to Reproduce:

Pre-requisites: Published course with at least one student enrollment.

1. Create a New Quiz, add an Until date, and then click ‘Save and Publish’.
2. Select the newly created New Quiz, then click ‘Build’.
3. Add at least one question.
4. Masquerade as a student in the course and start the quiz.
5. Navigate away from the quiz page or stop masquerading.
6. Once the Until date passes, navigate to the Moderate page of the New Quiz and notice that the student’s attempt is still in progress.
